Music

Like most other parish churches in England, St Edmund’s has a choir which helps lead worship at all the main services. The choir currently has over 20 members and is directed by our organist, Andrew Smith, who is a young professional musician. New members are always welcome. Don’t be afraid to volunteer!

The choir practises on Thursday evenings in church from 7 - 9 followed by a social time together in the crypt, and there is a short practice on Sunday mornings at 10.30.

The Choir gives the occasional concert. In Advent there is either a Choral Evensong or a concert of seasonal music and anthems and with appropriate secular readings. Usually on the Sunday next before Christmas in the evening there is the traditional Service of Nine Lessons with Carols to which the choir makes a considerable and much appreciated contribution.

It also arranges the occasional social event for members.

For more details, contact Mr Andrew Smith on 93 89 34 59.

Students from overseas also contribute to our worship with music and Christian songs from their homeland.
