Activities

We welcome lots of new people every year who have come to Oslo to study or work for a limited period. So an important form of ministry is to help newcomers establish a social network and quickly feel at home among us. Every Sunday after the morning service refreshments are served in the church crypt and lots of people stay for this time of social fellowship. There are parties too from time to time open to all, e.g. on Shrove Tuesday and in the autumn to welcome the newly arrived students from overseas, there’s a summer outing and picnic, and the annual bazaar in November is a big social occasion as well as raising a lot of money, and there are other occasions too.

There are activities and gatherings for particular groups of people, e.g. bible study, children, young adults, the choir and the Ladies Guild.

There are study groups during Lent and in the autumn to enable people to share their faith and to grow in faith, and the Young Adults have occasional devotional meetings in addition to their monthly social get-together. Each year there is usually a group of teenagers and adults preparing for Confirmation.

In the welcome pack with information for newcomers, we include a ‘Time & Talents’ sheet in the hope that they will volunteer straight away and contribute their talents to the worship and activities of St Edmund’s. We hope you too will share your gifts and talents with us.
