The celebration of St Edmund’s 125th anniversary starts Saturday the 8th of November 2008 and closes on Sunday the 28th of June 2009.  The celebration will start with a special service with the theme “Founded on faith, rooted in love” and end with a celebration of the opening of the church with the theme “Pilgrims on the Way”.

The opening of the church in 1884                                                           St Edmund’s 100 year celebration in 1984

Between the two major celebrations, we plan to explore the Jewish roots of our faith to help us understand Jesus in his Jewish context. Study groups will be held during Advent and Lent and in the period between Easter and Pentecost after the morning service, and all are encouraged to take part in these.

The children in our Sunday School will also be learning about their faith in a similar way.

Victor Mutelekesha, a young Zambian artist who is a member of the congregation, is working on a sculpture to mark the anniversary as well as an exhibition of the children’s artwork.  He is putting the final touches to a logo, which will be used to advertise the anniversary events.

If you would like to be involved in these celebrations please contact the Chaplain for further details.
