The celebration of St Edmund’s 125th
anniversary began Saturday the 8th of November 2008 and closed on
Sunday the 28th of June 2009. The celebration began with a special service with the theme “Founded on faith,
rooted in love” and ended with a celebration of the opening of the church with
the theme “Pilgrims on the Way”.

Edmund’s 100 year celebration in 1984
Between the
two major celebrations, we explored the Jewish roots of our faith to
help us understand Jesus in his Jewish context. Study groups were held
during Advent and Lent and in the period between Easter and Pentecost after the
morning service, and all were encouraged to take part in these.
The children
in our Sunday School also learned about their faith in a similar way.
Victor
Mutelekesha, a young Zambian artist who is a member of the congregation, has produced
a sculpture to mark the anniversary as well as an exhibition of the
children’s artwork. Victor also created the logo which was used to advertise the anniversary
events.
